Hand Fabricated Custom Rings
A Lady got in touch asking if I could remake a feather ring that was lost years ago. Problem was she was leaving the country in a few weeks.
I decided that building it from scratch in silver would enable me to meet the tight deadline.
She also wanted a second ring to match it, just a smaller version. I decided I could manage it.
I bought the silver and had the strips hallmarked before assembly. This ensured they'd be complete by the time she left the country.
Assembling The Rings
The client wanted the feathers to wrap half way around each ring.
I drew the feathers at the correct scale needed for each
and transferred them onto the silver sheet.
Cutting shaping and soldering
It would take all of my experience to heat these in the right places; directing heat away from the finer elements, ensuring equally flooded solder and secure joins.
The client came to see me and check out the rings.
I took her size and we estimated the best size for the largest version.
