First Time Letters

When it comes to spray painting, there are two main categories, characters and letters.
Twenty years ago I began painting with aerosols, and in all that time, I'd never tried writing. I was obsessed with characters.
Then jewellery took over. I still when out to paint a few times a year, still exhibited, still took on artwork jobs, however business took president.
Now though, with the cost of living rising and jewellery sales slowing, I find myself painting more and more.
Painting letters feels like starting again, it's scary and so satisfying.
I'm not stopping jewellery, just making time for both now.
I've been sketching like mad for the past 6 months and have to say, despite having a degree in graphic design, they were looking awful. I showed my friend Gent my first black book. He side eyed me and the drawings, rightly so. It drove me to keep drawing.
By the end of the year, I had a couple sketches that might work. I reached out to my friend Tizer and asked if he'd be up for painting. Tizer and I have painted together loads before but never with me painting letters. He was down.
We met in Shoreditch along with Wisher, Soner and Cazerone. It was 28th Dec, the Christmas gooch, and everyone was in the mood for a chill(y) days painting.
This is a legal spot so the vibe is relaxed, just how I like it.
That day was perfect. The guys were super helpful and gracious. I wrestled with super thin mulsh and the dying of the light; but essentially was really happy with my first ever letter piece. I think it passes?! It's still early days. I want to combine characters and letters eventually.
Here's how it went>>>>
Letters Attempt Round 2!

Not two weeks later and I was back out to have another go.
This day was Baltic! A wind that cut through you. On this occassion it was just me and Tizer.
Again, in Shoreditch on another legal wall off Nomadic Gardens, we painted until the sun went down. In winter this only gives you about 4hrs light by the time the mulsh goes on.
I had a bunch of flesh tones I wanted to use up and hoped that neon additions would bring it to life. I enjoyed this days painting just as much as the first time. A tickle in my belly tells me how many mad combinations and ideas there are to be expressed in this form and it excites me. I loved adding the London skyline in. Personally I don't know how long I can afford to stay in London so I wanted to put a tribute up whilst I'm feeling torn about it.
Anyway; here's how the days painting went:
You can't tell but I was laughing so much when Tizer had me sat on his shoulders.
It's his sheer height and the fact that I've not sat on someone's shoulder for decades.
Made me feel like a big kid. And that feeling is golden.
Thank you for a great day Ed!
And thanks for looking.
