Making an everyday item shine

Cut Glass Studio Shutter Request
I truly am blessed with the best friends and clients!
In this instance they crossed over.
Anna Hessami is the Owner of Cut Glass Studios,
& asked me to jazz up the front entrance shutter
I met Anna through the Graffiti scene years ago, we have a lot of the same friends.
I've always enjoyed visiting Her workshop. Every inch of the place has a curiosity.
But most of all, Her stained glass window designs are the best.
If you have a moment, check out her work on instagram HERE
Designing The Shutter
She requested Peonies and Magnolias.
Of course I said yes
My only concern was making the design good enough
to exist amongst her work and gorgeous garden.
It's been a while since I've painted any flower studies.
Jewellery designs yes, but not painting them. Very happy to return to it.
I got to practising Peonies (as it was going to be tricky not having them look like roses).
I also wanted to work out a nice scale for both flowers to 'go' together.
After sending some sketches to Anna,
I got the go ahead and headed down the road to her Studio...
Painting the Shutter
What a great day this was
I headed off via Bruce Grove to buy Spray Paint.
I recommend VIP Graffiti, Em who runs it since Billy passed, is doing great.
She's just as chatty as Billy was, and I'm so glad it's still open!
When I got to Anna's I was greeted with coffee and conversation
and utterly spoilt with food at lunchtime.
I throughly enjoyed layering up the painting.
I must admit, the uneven surface was a challenge.
I adjusted my design to a softer lined version and got to it.
Here's how it went.....
THE RESULT
Anna was super happy with how it came out.
Her only quarm was I didn't sign it! I might still if she wants me to.
I thought it's her front door of a business, she doesn't need my name there.
Thanks for asking me to do this for you Anna!
I'd love to paint some more large scale floral work.
Ideally a 2 story piece with giant roses!
Reach out if you have a wall big enough :)
Thank you for looking
Elfin x
