Hand Fabricated Leo Symbol Pendant w/Chain

Regular customer and friend, Nesh, reached out to see if I could make her son's Girlfriend a last minute gift.

We knew there wasn't enough time for the wax carving process, so I got to thinking about alternatives.

The brief was, 'She's a Leo' and 'I'm thinking a necklace and custom pendant'.

I had around 2 weeks. It's about time I tried out wire work beyond making jump rings.

I usually needs 4-5 weeks when casting from waxes. Hand making in sterling silver wire would save weeks.

It still needed a week to be hallmarked.

So I got a wriggle on. Once Nesh OK'd the sketches, I headed to the workshop...

Now unfortunately, I did not document the wire shaping and soldering.

This was due to needing to concentrate.

Not being super familiar with this method, filming felt like I might jinx my efforts.

It went smoothly

Once happy with the shape I hardening the pendant, then moved onto to cleaning it up. Using finer polishing tools each time, I brought it up to it's high mirror shine.

Nesh was kind enough to send me a picture of her Son's beautiful Girlfriend

and I have to say it looks great on her.
