Let me show you 3 alterations from July.

Firstly, adding a topaz stone to an All Seeing Eye ring. Followed by two different types of ring resizing and why each method was chosen.

Faceted London Blue Topaz in the All Seeing Eye ring

I used to find setting stones into this ring so difficult. Each time getting a little faster, neater and more satisfying. I imagine people would be suprised to see what you have to do to get it in there. So I figured I'd show you: From a perfectly polished plain All Seeing Eye, to hammer marks, to a perfectly shiny, stone set ring.

See the process here:

Although Topaz is the only stone listed on the shop, other stones are available. Do drop me a message with any enquiry :)

'What type of resizing do I need?'

So! There's sizing a ring up (making it bigger) and sizing down (making it smaller).

Today let's talk about the two ways of going bigger.

First up we have a good friend of mine, Al. He's a great Artist, go check him out here

He got in touch as he'd been gifted a ring that was slightly too tight.

Living in North London like myself, I invited Alex to the workshop to get measured.

Finding that he only needed a half to a full size increase, I worked on it whilst he waited. When it's a small increase, it's best to tap the shank with a hammer to expand the silver. Al was super happy to leave wearing his ring.

Regardless of method, the ring being resized gets repolished. It looks brand spanking new after a size alteration, every time.

Scroll down for Al's resize process video :)

Now, moving onto a more complex sizing up procedure..

An order came through for a Large Flower of Life ring, UK size Z.

This meant an increase of over 10 sizes and would definitely require a section of silver to be added into the shank. This resize method involves sawing and soldering and takes a bit more time! This, despite the insert of silver, still results in a seamless finish.

Below we have a process video for each type of resize. It's better to just show you the difference there :)

Both Resizes cost £35, although if you've just purchased the ring and it needs a slight alteration, I usually count that as the first free resize.

After a super busy July, I'm still catching up on my blog posts and have a few more to go.

As for format, in future i'll have to put a few jobs per post, unless it's confusing?

Fell free to let me know.

Thank you for looking,

Isabel
