COMMISSIONED BY KASH

I was delighted to be asked to make floral based pendants. This was right up my street.

I've been experimenting with flower designs and I snapped up the chance to create more.

The brief: ' I would like three matching pendants featuring a Rose & Violet'

Commissions always start with discussions and sketches between the client and I.

Kash wanted these made for his Partner (Rose), her Sister (Violet) and their Mother.

I drew out different options, and Kash let me know his favourites.

We settled on an oval design with graphic stylised flowers. I had a 4 week deadline, it would be tight but I was determined to complete them in time.

I'd need a few days to carve the master pendant in wax. Once complete, it got taken to my Casters in Highbury Islington. Here's how it went...

WORKING ON THE CASTINGS

I collected the silver castings about a week later. We're on target.

The next task was to solder the top hoop to each pendant and add jump rings to those.

Each pendant got a preliminary polish as well.

I then took them to the Assay Office in St Pauls to receive their hallmark. I chose the laser option to enlarge the hallmark and make it a feature of the reverse side of the pendant.

This would take 5-10 days. I would have only a few days spare to collect, final polish and get the pendants to Kash on time. I can tell you now, we made it.

Here's how it went...

I did intend to film Kash receiving the pendants but I totally forgot!

He got in contact shortly after, letting me know how pleased the recipients were.

My pleasure to make these for you!

I welcome more floral jobs, if you've got an idea, get in touch :)
